Low Gear in Gear-Inches
"Low Inch" is the low gear ratio multiplied by the diameter of the wheel in inches. Eg: My old ten speed Norco has two chainrings 52/40 and a 13-34 cassette, and 700c wheels. So the low gear ratio is 1.18 and the GearInches of 31.8. Not very low. A Trek 520 has 19.4 gear inches, much better for touring.
