Headline: Freehub Remove, Clean, Lube, Install SEO: How To Remove/Clean/Degrease/Lube/Install A Freehub Body

Scope: This goes all the way down to the Freehub, but it shows all the steps such as removing cassette and cones.

Instructions:
Start by removing the cassette, then you see the freehub. Remove the axle by removing the non-drive cone. Flip wheel over and pull axle out. Now use 10 mm hex wrench to remove the freehub. Need cheater bar. Then remove bearings from freehub with tweezers. Then remove bolt from freehub. Then he removes the rubber seal for the actual tiny ratchet bearings. (Not the 9 cone bearings) Then he soaks it in solvent.

I have not taken apart any of my freehubs. What we have done in several cases is to use solvent without removing the bearing seal.

When he reassembles he puts in 9 bearings (1/4") and grease. Puts grease in with his fingers. Then insert axle and screw the cone back out. Then get the bearing clearance.

Relevance: The hub he rebuilds is the same as the hub on all of our current bicycles. His cassette has two loose cogs, for a total of 7 speeds.

Starts with cassette removal, then remove axle then
